Spaßeshalber mal die Rezension von Lost Highway aus dem New Yorker kopiert und gute Nacht:
Lost Highway
(1997)
David Lynch benefits from detailed locales like Twin Peaks or the show-biz Hollywood of "Mulholland Drive:" they provide the force of gravity when his imagination spins toward its outer limits. By comparison, the first half of this 1997 movie suffers from abstraction. Still, it's a compelling erotic nightmare about a Los Angeles jazz musician (Bill Pullman) who starts receiving anonymous surveillance videos of his Hollywood Hills house just as he's barrelling into a full-bore marital crisis. While on Death Row for murdering his wife, Pullman black-magically transforms into a suburban grease monkey (Balthazar Getty) living out his own saga of amorous betrayal with a blond look-alike of the jazz musician's spouse. (Patricia Arquette gives an all-out performance in the dual role.) The movie grows more hypnotic as Getty's story mirrors and then fleshes out Pullman's, with the help of Robert Loggia's scary-comic portrayal of a Mr. Big known as Mr. Eddy and Robert Blake's ultra-creepy presence as the "Mystery Man," who functions as the Spirit of Homicide Past, Present, and Future. The cinematographer Peter Deming lights one of the blackest of all film-noir fade-outs: it traps you in an infinite night.

Ich gehe mal schnell die Liste dort durch. Nein, doch nicht, das dauert nun zu lange.
Dazu auch die beiden schönen Bildbände von Taschen, Filme der 80er und 90er Jahre.
Daraufhin haben wir jeder eine Liste der 20 besten Filme zusammengestellt. Daraus soll dann die Liste der 10 gefiltert werden. Und der beste Film. (Noch unentschieden. Entweder "Lost Highway" oder "Es war einmal in Amerika" [warum gibt es den nicht auf Video zu kaufen?])
ATANARJUAT
Der letzte Film, den ich gesehen habe wird nicht darunter fallen, war aber dennoch sehr gut, Atanarjuat,

Der lief auch auf der Documenta (unpassender Ort für Besucher), außerdem gab es doch auf unzähligen Monitoren eine 10teilige Dokumentation des traditionellen Inuit-Lebens zu sehen. Unklar, wie die nun heute leben, wieviel davon ist noch heute in ihren Alltag integriert. Das muß ich bei Gelegenheit aufspüren. Warum? Einfach so. Unglaublich unter welchen Bedingungen das Leben dort verlaufen ist. Parallel zu dem hier in Europa, in den wärmeren Gefilden.
